Spider-Man: Homecoming

I absolutely loved "Spider-Man: Homecoming." Thought Tom Holland was fantastic in the title role, thought Michael Keaton was excellent as the villain (honestly, I think he may be one of my favorite Marvel villains thus far because his motivations made sense and were believable), and Marisa Tomei as May was perfect. The final scene with her was hands-down one of my favorites. And the final stinger at the end is hysterical. I fully intend on going to see this again in the theater.

Ultratech & Traveller

As stated before, I've been looking in an existing Traveller 'campaign' and making notes with regards to various armor & weapons. Since this campaign is done by Mongoose, some translation to GURPS is required and wow ... some of this stuff is crazy. So, books I'm using for this are Ultratech & GURPS: Traveller (3E). Traveller: Interstellar Wars isn't very helpful. Straight away, there's a reference to Battle Dress . As the link indicates, this is evidently powered armor, which Traveller 3E gives as PD 5 (passive defense ... haven't seen that in a while!), DR 150, gives ST 25, Speed 5.5, Move of 5. This is easy. Ultratech gives TL 9 powered combat armor, which at TL 11 will have DR 140/100. Problem solved. The real trouble, I think, is with a referenced FGMP (TL15) which is a "fusion gun, man-portable.) This awesome Tech Level Comparison chart tells me that TL15 is GURPS TL 12 and Traveller 3E (p107) tells me that "Fusion guns are mor

Fraking Gaming Muses

Grumble, grumble, mutter, mutter. So irritated right now because my brain is jumping in like a dozen different directions with regards to gaming. What I should be doing is working for setup on the game I run for my face-to-face group - GURPS Monster Hunters set in the Dresden Files universe - but instead, I've been instead reading this Mongoose Traveller campaign ("Secrets of the Ancients") and making notes for how to convert a lot of that to GURPS for the Saturday Fantasy Grounds group. We're currently playing Traveller in that under ... uh ... GM #2, I think? No. It's #3, though really, #2 only ran for about four sessions. Anyway, we're playing now and the GM has indicated he intends to run for a while so we'll probably be ready to switch genres when he's done yet my brain has decided it would like to take over after him. I need this like a I need a hole in the head. I simply have too much to contemplate already, dammit. GURPS: Red Sky. As state

Traveller and Black Holes

I've recently watched Interstellar and the latest season finale of Doctor Who  (which, as I've stated, was kind of blah) but both of them involved the time dilation effects of black holes which has led me to start thinking about a scenario for the Saturday RPG group with our Traveller game.

Capaldi's Who

So, caught up with this most recent season of Doctor Who which is going to be Capaldi's last season and ... I hate to say this, but I kind of hated it. I have nothing bad to say about Capaldi himself, who I actually rather liked as the Doctor, but the writing was freaking terrible all through this season. Just horrible. Honestly, the only thing that interested me was seeing David Bradley playing the First Doctor at the tail end. For the first time ever, I'm actually interested in watching the X-Mas special this year...

Red Sky Volume 6 Planning, Session 1

With the narrative thrust resolve, I then turn to the actual "adventure" itself. The current plan calls for at least five sessions (although, knowing my luck, it's more likely going to be 6 to 8.) Right now, I've split up each planned session according to the characters involved:
